Not native to the UK, the Canada goose is very much part of the furniture. They can often be seen in our parks by ponds, lakes, canal. They will usually be found by water.
Canada geese feed on grass, insects, fish, will also eat grain when available. They will also skim the top of lakes, canal etc
Can be found by river, waterways, such as small lakes ponds, canals, they will normally nest by water.
Black neck with cheek patches
Brown and white body
up to 100 cm in length
Clutch of around 5 eggs
Live for around 5 years
Canada geese fly in a V formation
Can be seen throughout the year
Canada geese raise their goslings by water, so they can escape predators when needed
